The minute your delivery arrives is the easiest time to catch and fix any issue — and the required steps go faster when you know they’re coming. Here’s what the first minute at the door should look like.
Have your ID in hand
This one isn’t optional. New Jersey requires delivery drivers to verify, in person, that the person receiving an adult-use order is 21 or over with a valid photo ID — every order, every time, even for regulars. Deliveries also can’t be left unattended at the door, so the hand-off has to be to you. Having your ID out before you open the door turns the whole exchange into a few seconds.
Check the order against what you bought
Before the driver leaves, glance through the bag: item count, product names, sizes. Licensed NJ products come in sealed, labeled packaging, so a quick look at each label is enough to confirm you got what you paid for. It’s a ten-second habit that saves a phone call later.
Look at the seals and labels
Every legal product should arrive sealed, with labeling that shows what it is and how much THC it contains per serving. Those labels matter beyond the doorstep — they’re what you’ll use to dose edibles sensibly later (here’s how long edibles take to kick in and why the label is your friend).
Then put it somewhere sensible
Once the door closes, store products out of reach of kids and pets, ideally cool and dark — our freshness and storage guide has the details. That’s the whole routine: ID, count, seals, storage. Sixty seconds, done right.
