Most delivery nights go sideways for one simple reason: the order goes in too late. Once you know how long delivery actually takes in your town, timing the rest of your evening gets easy.
Know your real delivery window
Delivery time depends mostly on how close the dispensary is to you. In Jersey City, most TerpTaxi orders arrive in 35–50 minutes. Towns served by an in-town partner dispensary — like Hoboken or Rahway — typically see 25–40 minutes, while Newark orders generally run 40–60 minutes.
Order before you need it, not when you need it
The best move is ordering at the start of your evening — when dinner goes in the oven, not when the movie starts. Deliveries run every day from 9 AM to 10 PM, and the last stretch of the night tends to be the busiest, so an order placed at 9:30 PM is cutting it close. Earlier orders also give you room to fix a problem — a wrong address, a missed call — without running out the clock.
Be reachable and be home
New Jersey rules require adult-use deliveries to come to a residence, and the driver has to hand your order to you personally after checking a photo ID that shows you’re 21 or over. That means the two things that most often slow a delivery down are a phone on silent and nobody at the door. Keep your phone nearby and stay put for the window.
A simple evening template
Order first. Eat while you wait — especially if edibles are involved, since they land more gently on a full stomach (our edibles timing guide covers that in detail). Have your ID out before the knock. Then settle in with everything already in hand instead of watching the clock mid-night.
